This page answers some of the frequently asked questions about the use of the apps4myhome website and the apps4myhome apps.  Please click on a question to see the answer revealed..

Why do I have to maintain an active e-mail address as my username?

We use the e-mail address to inform you of any changes to the apps that you use, any new associated apps that are available, and to let you know when your licence is coming up for renewal.  Also, for security reasons, should you lose your password, we will only send details on how to recover your password to that e-mail address.  Please note we do not make your e-mail address available to any third parties.

Note that your email address needs to be used for only one apps4myhome account - if you try to create a second account with an existing email address, the account will not be created, and you will be asked to log-in to your existing account.

Can I change my username?

No, your username must be unique, and you are not able to change it after initial registration.  Please provide a name with at least 6 characters using upper and lower case letters (a-z, A-Z), digits 0-9 and under-line (_) characters only.

Can I change my email address? 

Yes, please display your 'my account' page and use the on-line facility 'edit profile' to change your e-mail address (or password).

I’ve forgotten my password.

Please follow the 'Forgot login?' link at the top of the page to be sent an email with a new password to your email address.  After you've received this and logged in successfully, for security reasons we recommend that you change your password.

Remember that this new password should also be used for access to your apps.

I’ve forgotten the username that I used to register/log-in

Please follow the 'Forgot login?' link at the top of the page, give us your registered email address and we will email your username to your registered email address.

Can I buy a version of an app that only runs and stores data only on my PC?

No.  All our Apps have been built to be supplied on a SaaS (Software as a Service) app.  This is the way many/most software apps will be delivered in the future – it allows us to take the problems of updating and upgrading the software away from our users, whilst giving them the flexibility to access the app and its data from any Internet-connected device  - any time, any place, anywhere.

Will the apps run on my Apple Mac or Linux device?

Yes – but please check the requirements on the 'prices' page to confirm the versions of Apple and Linux supported.  In practice, if your device is Internet-connected, and has an up-to-date version of a browser that runs Java and AJAX applications, then the apps should run on it.

Will the apps run on my mobile phone?

Again, in principle, yes – if your mobile device is Internet-connected, and has an up-to-date version of a browser, then the apps should run on it.  Note however that you need good quality on-line connectivity whilst you run the app – you cannot run the app if you are disconnected from the Internet, or in an area with poor reception. Note also that many screens are designed for use full-sized devices (PC's, Macs and tablets) - use on small screen mobiles will require panning around the screen to find all the data.

My apps subscription is about to finish and I don’t want to renew.  Can I get access to my data?

You can use the print facilities to print out your data, or if you want an electronic copy for loading into another app, please use the export options for the information you wish to obtain.  In the administration menu, you will also have the option to take an export of the complete database, complete with your attached files (but not any cached/captured web pages). 

Can I get a refund under the 14-day money-back guarantee for an upgrade or renewal?

No.  The 14-day money-back guarantee covers the initial purchase of your first app only.  We assume that the app must be running on your PC/mobile device for you to wish to upgrade it or extend the subscription – our money-back guarantee does not cover this.

I get the error “the maximum number of uses of coupon code has been reached”. 

It would appear that someone has used a limited coupon code code before you (it can only be used only a limited number of times - typically once only for a single subscription).  If you haven’t used it yourself already, and did not expect this, please contact us quoting the coupon code and your email address.
